Parliamentary Evening at the Hamburg Representation to the Federal Government
On December 15, 2022, experts from the UDVeo project demonstrated live to a broad audience from politics, business and science how the interaction between drones and other road users in a U-space airspace can function safely and efficiently. The guests were welcomed beforehand by Senator Dr. Anjes Tjarks as well as State Secretary Oliver Luksic, who presented the U-space concept for Germany for the first time on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Digital Affairs and Transport (BMDV). Subsequently, questions about automated drone traffic and next steps were discussed on a panel.
Represented were:
- the BMDV through Johann Friedrich Colsmann, Head of Air Traffic Department
- the BWI through Dr. Judith Reuter, Head of Department Air Traffic and North German Cooperation
- the business community through Lars Neumann, HHLA AG
- the scientific community through Prof. Dr. Margarete Schuler-Harms, Vice President Research at Helmut Schmidt University
The U-space Regulation will apply directly in Germany on January 26, 2023. The BMDV has announced that the legislative procedure for the national implementation of the U-space Regulation will be carried out as soon as possible. In this context, UDVeo would like to refer to its interim UDVeo report published in March 2022, which comprehensively explains the U-space ecosystem from a legal-technical perspective and provides some recommendations to the BMDV. UDVeo’s final report will be published soon.
